Tips for A Successful Marriage
By: Arthur and Dr. Kim Nowlin
Marriage is an opportunity for two individuals to start a family together and establish a sincere bond that will enhance personal growth within an intimate association. We become hesitant to share our inner feelings with others unless trust and faith has been established within the core relationship. On many occasions we engage our inner thoughts and feelings expecting honest sharing and support while positioning ourselves
in a vulnerable environment.
It doesn't matter what we perceive as legitimate goals and objectives for a relationship. What becomes paramount is the ability to move beyond our inhibitions and mistrust so we can release barriers and establish healthy foundations.
How do we establish sincere acceptance of our partners who demonstrate opposite characteristics? The challenge is learning how to adjust to the behavior and maintain emotional balance. A significant construct is understanding our own personal ability to recognize our own character defects.
We must initiate some sense of measurement to allow us to evaluate ourselves while assimilating with our partners. This may require consistent checks and balances which will reinforce development within the marriage framework. We should not be hesitant to develop acceptance from consistent engagement through interaction and intimacy.

Take a few minutes out of your day together.
